NBC - Nothing But Crap

Not that I know what any TV broadcaster has on at 8 o’clock anymore anyway - even TiVo is having a hard time keeping track.

Duh. Advertisers are the Customers, not Viewers. Listening to Tod Maffin’s latest Todbits (made my Podcast Picks as well) and pondering his bit about American Idol running 3 minutes after the hour to thwart PVR-watchers and encourage live-TV-watchers. Honestly, I feel a little silly. All this time I was wondering why it felt like broadcast media outlets despised their customers. Switching up schedules,
Amazing Race Season 9 - Episode 1 Two-hour kick off to Season 9. Premieres are tough, lots of people to meet right away, 11 teams, 22 people. Nobody jumped out at us during the introductions. They all talked smack in the same way, “Everyone else will underestimate us, and we’ll beat them.” Blah. Once is bravado - 11 times is scripted insipidity.
I really dug tonight’s House (chess play… I really dug tonight’s House (chess playing jerk kid). It was the only episode in memory where I thought the side-story was more interesting than the case.
Amazing Race 8 - Series Premiere Amazing Race 8, family style premiered tonight. Best Thing: Cameos by season 1’s Kevin and Drew. Worst Thing: So much screaming. Unnecessary screaming. Oh, and the all Flash, unlinkable website. Current favorites: Lintz Family, Aiello Family.
Northern Exposure is Identity We’re working through Season 3: Disc 5 of Northern Exposure (specifically My Sister, My Mother). In it, we find a nameless baby, Adam riding a roller coaster of emotions, and Shelly’s mom pretending to be her sister. Add these story-lines to the series’ general fish-outta-water-ness and there’s a lot of identity theory - Jewish or otherwise.
