I once heard Cory Doctorow always buys 2 laptops and keeps them in sync’ed up. I’m think that’s the only way to go. My MacBook Pro really wants a clean install.

I’m fairly close with my Ubuntu-powered Thinkpad. With an internal secondary hard drive, I can nuke the laptop and be back up and running in about an hour or 2. I’ve needed to do it twice in the last year.
J, thanks for mentioning that. As I was pricing new MacBook’s today, I was thinking how’d I’d prefer a second hard drive to an optical drive.
